1.) Islamic school is starting this Sunday, August 22nd, inshaa Allah; registration and orientation session will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. 2.) The first day of classes is Sunday, August 29th, for the month of Ramadan classes will start at 11:30am and end at 2:00pm, inshaa Allah. 3.) The ISGL is continuing its tradition of providing iftar to singles and students (brothers and sisters) in the community from Monday - Friday during Ramadan inshaa Allah. In order to ensure the success of this program, your generous donations are requested. Please place donations in the specially-marked black box in the small prayer hall. 4.) Any community member who would like to sponsor/bring food for the daily singles iftar is kindly requested to talk to either Br. Aurangzab or Br. Haroon Mohammad. 5.) Inshaa Allah we are going to have our second community iftar in the Masjid on Saturday, tomorrow. This iftar is already funded but we need help from families in cooking, we’ll provide meat and ingredients, inshaa Allah. Families are requested to contact brother Ibrahim to get their share for cooking. Community iftars are a means for all community members to gather, socialize and eat together, please support these events so that we can continue this good tradition. 6.) The whole community is invited to the community iftar and annual fund raising on Saturday, September 4th. Please mark your calendars for this big event. The iftar will be held in an outside location (not in the masjid). The ISGL Fundraiser Committee would appreciate if community members could help us determine the appropriate quantity of food and chairs to have available by signing up on the sign-up sheet in the small prayer hall and sister's prayer hall. 7.) The masjid is having Taraweeh prayer every night in Ramadan in shaa Allah. All community members are kindly requested to observe the parking rules for the masjid. Please leave the parking spots around the masjid for elderly and community members with health disabilities. We will have a zero tolerance policy for violators (meaning all cars will be towed at the owner's expense). Free parking is available after 5 PM in the Purdue University garages (including the one on University Street). 8.) Parents, the masjid is offering a babysitting service for children ages 4-10 every night during taraweeh prayer. If you bring your child to the masjid, he/she must either stand for prayer, read Qur'an silently, or be in the babysitting area. Your cooperation in ensuring this Ramadan is an enjoyable experience for all community members is greatly appreciated. 9.) We started removing paint from the gazebo last Saturday but we did not get enough volunteers. We request the community again to help us paint the gazebo. We will inshaa Allah start working at 10:00 AM tomorrow (Saturday 21st), so please show up for help. 10.) Front parking of the masjid will not be available from 3:30 to 8PM today and from 10:00AM to 8:00PM on Monday and Tuesday, because of the Dawah Week activities. Please make sure to remove your part when you leave after Jumua. 11.) Br. Abdelgassim Yousef underwent open heart surgery earlier this week. We ask Allah, azza wa jal, to restore Br. Abdelgassim back to good health and to reward him for his patience through this difficult trial. Ameen. 12.) The ISGL and MSA are preparing small goody bags as gifts for the children in the community for Eid-ul-Fitr. We would appreciate if parents could register their children (registration is free) to ensure each child receives a bag. Please put the name of the child, his/her age, and gender on the white note cards available in the small prayer hall (for brothers) and the sisters prayer hall and drop the completed notecards in the specially marked glass container. 13.) MSA in association with student organizations of some Muslim countries is holding an Eid dinner for Muslim students on September 10, inshaa Allah. Those who want to join other Muslim students from diverse backgrounds for Eid dinner should contact their country’s organization and if their organization is not participating then they should contact Brother Salah or Sister Silay. 14.) We would like to welcome the new students and other new members in the community and wish them all success Inshaa Allah. 15.) There is a vacancy for one Muslim brother in the rooms upstairs, for next academic year. Anyone interested to live in Masjid should contact brother Abish. 16.) The cleaning group for this week will be the Khalid bin Waleed (led by Dr. Waleed) on Sunday after Dhuhr prayer. Any brother interested in earning ajr (reward) for helping to clean the Masjid is requested to talk to Br. Haroon Mohammad or Br. Aurangzeb. 17.) Please do not forget to donate generously. |
