· Jazakum Allahu Khairan to all of the brothers and sisters who showed and participated in the masjid fundraiser last Saturday night. Alhamdulillah, to date we have been able to raise close to $73,000 in pledges and donations (which is nearly 50% of the proposed annual budget). For anyone who missed the fundraiser and would like to donate to support the masjid and its projects, please use the pledge forms available outside in the small prayer hall.

 

· In shaa Allah, Eid-ul-Fitr will be either Sunday (September 20) or Monday (September 21) at the Burtsfield School gymnasium (1800 N Salisbury Street). A few details:

· Moon-sighting to determine the exact date of Eid will be conducted tomorrow (Saturday) evening by local brothers. A decision for Eid will be announced sometime after Maghrib prayer tomorrow (please look at the masjid website [www.isglonline.org] or the MSA website [www.purdue.edu/msa] for the date.

· Eid prayer will start at 9:30 AM SHARP if on Sunday and 8:30 AM if on Monday (please come early and carpool!)

· Students who need a ride to the Eid prayer need to be at the masjid by 8:00 AM the day of Eid

· There will be a community (potluck) breakfast after the prayerplease sign-up to bring a dish to share

 

· Please remember to pay your Zakat-ul-Fitr by Saturday before Dhuhr prayer. Zakat-ul-Fitr is $10/person this year. Please place the money in the designated/labeled boxes in both the men’s small prayer hall (for men) and the sisters prayer hall (for women). The purpose of this zakat is that it serves as a means of cleansing us of any mistakes or errors we may have made while fasting. The money collected will be distributed to local Muslim families in need in shaa Allah.

 

· The Muslim Students Association will be holding a general body meeting for all Muslim students and MSA members next Thursday (September 24, 2009) at 6 PM in Beering (BRNG), Room 2290. Please contact Brothers Zahab Ahsan or Ahmad Kadura for more information.

 

· The Muslim Students Association will be having an Eid Barbeque Party next Saturday (September 26, 2009) at Happy Hollow Park – Shelter #4 – starting from 3:30 PM until sunset. This is for MSA members and students only. Please contact Brothers Zahab Ahsan or Ahmad Kadura for more information.

 

· The Islamic Circle of North America is sponsoring a Muslim family day event at the Six Flags Amusement Park in Louisville, Kentucky (3 hours drive South) next Saturday, September 26. Discounted tickets for the event ($17/person) are available from Brother Dheya Mustafa if any community member is interested.

 

· The weekly Qur’an recitation halaqa conducted by Brother Isam Badawi will be held Sunday at the Masjid after Maghrib prayer.

 

· The cleaning group for this week will be the Abu Bakr As-Sadeeq Group (led by Brother Sohail Sadiq) on Sunday after Asr prayer. Any brother interested in earning ajr (reward) for helping to clean the masjid is requested to talk to Brother Haroon Mohammad.

 

· Remember we are in Ramadan so please do not forget to donate generously.
