 Today’s

 Athan Times

· Tomorrow (Saturday, September 5, 2009) a community iftar tomorrow will be held after Maghrib prayer in shaa Allah at the masjid. It is a potluck iftar so everyone is requested to sign up (online or outside in small prayer hall) to bring a dish or drink to share. Talk to Brs. Sohail Sadiq or Haroon Mohammad for questions.

· The annual masjid fundraiser will be next Saturday (September 12, 2009) in shaa Allah. The location of the community iftar and fundraiser will be at the Burtsfield School Gymnasium (corner of Lindberg and Salisbury Roads – where Eid prayers are usually held) starting after Maghrib prayer.

· The masjid will be providing the food; please bring your appetites and checkbooks (masjid depends on your generosity to stay fully functional)

· We will have shuttles available after Maghrib prayer from the masjid for those without vehicles.

· Maghrib prayer will be held both at Burtsfield gym and the masjid.

· Isha and taraweeh prayers will be held at the masjid (after fundraiser is over)

· The EC Board would like to remind everyone about the masjid’s policy regarding food to be shared in community gatherings either in the masjid or outside; this policy was created in order to unify the community. The EC is requesting that anyone who wishes to bring a dish of meat to share must ensure that the meat is Zabiha (slaughtered according to Islamic jurisprudence). This step has been taken to ensure that no one in the community has any doubt about what is being consumed. Everyone's cooperation on this matter is greatly appreciated. Also, as a matter of respect to your fellow Muslims, do not question them regarding the meat that is brought to the masjid.  The formal policy has been posted on the EC notice board.  Please address all concerns to Dr. Mourad, Dr. Aamer, or Br. Sohail.

· We are still in need of donations to support the weekday singles/student iftar. Please donate generously in the box marked “Ramadan Singles Iftar.”

· The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is organizing a Muslim family day at the Six Flags Theme Park in Louisville, KY on Saturday, September 26, 2009 (weekend after Eid-ul-Fitr). Discounted tickets (for $17/person) are available from Brother Dheya Mustafa. More information can be found on the posters in the bulletin boards around the masjid.

· The weekly Qur’an recitation halaqa conducted by Brother Isam Badawi will be held Sunday at the Masjid after asr prayer.

· The cleaning group for this week will be the Az-Zubair bin al-Awwam + Jabalayn Group (led by Dr. Aamer and Brother Ibrahim Aly) on Sunday after Asr prayer. Any brother interested in earning ajr (reward) for helping to clean the masjid is requested to talk to Br. Haroon Mohammad.

· Remember we are in Ramadan so please do not forget to donate generously.
