· The first day of fasting for Ramadan will begin tomorrow (Saturday, August 22, 2009). Taraweeh prayers will begin 5 minutes after the conclusion of Isha prayer (starting tonight). Please keep the following rules in mind:
· Parking will be limited. Please leave parking spots around the masjid facility for the elderly, sisters, and families. Please come early and park either in the garage on University Street (free after 5 PM) or street parking on Waldron or Russell Streets.
· Cars parked illegally around the masjid premises will be subject to tickets or being towed at the owner’s expense.
· Babysitting will be provided for children who are not able to stand and pray with their parents. The cost per child is $2/day.
· No children are allowed in either the Men’s or Women’s prayer halls unless they are praying.
· Please do not have conversations inside the masjid during the prayers. Please be courteous to your fellow Muslims who are praying.
· There will be a community iftar (potluck) tomorrow (Saturday, August 22) at the masjid. Families are encouraged to sign up to bring a dish to share. Singles are kindly requested to bring drinks. If your family would like to sponsor a community iftar, please talk to either Brother Sohail Sadiq, EC Secretary, or Brother Ibrahim Aly, ICB Coordinator.
· The masjid will be offering iftar every day (Monday – Friday) the entire Ramadan for singles and students. We are requesting donations for the singles/students iftars. Please donate generously for the ajr (reward) of Iftar Sa-a’m (breaking the fast of one who is fasting). A specially labeled box is on the table in the small men’s prayer hall.
· During Ramadan, the masjid will be conducting a competition. Interested participants will have to answer a daily question regarding a subject from the Qur’an. The question will be posted daily on the Qur’an halaqah bulletin board in the large prayer hall. For more information, please contact Brother Isam Badawi.
· There will also be a Qur’an memorization contest for different age groups during Ramadan. For more details, please talk to Brother Isam Badawi or view th document containing information about the contest posted in the small prayer hall.
