· Registration for the Spring 2009 semester for the weekend Islamic School will be held on the following dates: · Today (Jan 2, 2009) after Maghrib prayer for Friday school: for kids 2 - 4 years only · Next Friday, Jan 9, 2009 after Jumm’ah prayer for Sunday school: kids 5 years and above · The first day of school will be next Sunday, January 11, 2009.
· The Islamic School is looking for both male and female teachers to teach our children. If anyone would like more information, please contact Brother Isam Badawi, Islamic Education Board (IEB) Coordinator.
· The 10th day of Muharram (Day of Aashoora) will be next Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in shaa Allah. It is recommended to fast the Day of Aashoora and either the day before or after it based on authentic hadeeth.
“When Rasulullah, salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam, observed the fast of the day of Aashoora and ordered (his Companions) to fast, they said: `O Rasulullah! It is a day revered (glorified) by the Jews and Christians.' Thereupon Rasulullah said: "The coming year, if Allah wills (I remain alive), I will for surely fast on the ninth (also.)” (narrated in Saheeh Muslim)
· The weekly Qur’an memorization halaqah conducted by Brother Isam Badawi will be held Saturday at the masjid after Maghrib prayer. The Qur’an memorizarion halaqah will move to Sunday after Maghrib prayer starting next Sunday, January 11, 2009.
· The cleaning group for this week will be the Az-Zubair bin al-Awwam group (led by Brother Ibrahim Aly) on Sunday after Thuhr prayer. Any brother interested in earning ajr (reward) for helping to clean the masjid is requested to sign up on the sign-up sheet on the MSA Bulletin Board.
