 Athan Times

· There are room vacancies for the remainder of the Fall 2008 semester available in the Masjid's Student Residence upstairs. Anyone interested should contact the resident counselor Br Isam Badawi for more information.

 

· The Institute of Islamic Education Elgin, IL will be presenting the “Seal of the Prophets, The Finality of Prophethood” this weekend (Friday, November 14-Sunday, November 16).  The program is open to both brothers and sisters and the food as well as baby sitting will be provided for free.  Details are posted on the bulletin boards on both entrances.  Please contact brother Liaquat (Abu Umar) for more details.

 

· Donations are being collected to help victims of the earthquake which hit Baluchistan, Pakistan on October 29. Several thousand families have been affected and are now living in tents. We request community members to place all donations to help the survivors of this earthquake in the brown donation box sitting on the table in the small prayer hall. Please direct all questions to Dr. Arif Ghafoor.

 

· Congratulations to Brother Thierno Thiam for successfully defending his Ph.D. May Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, grant him the best of success both in this life and the Hereafter. Ameen.

 

· Students as you sign up for your Spring semester of classes, please take note of the following: you can incorporate a 1 hour time block in your schedule for jumm’ah prayer by signing up for ACTIVITY 900 (ACTY 900). Purdue University policy forbids instructors from punishing students for attending valid, required religious services/functions during class time. If you have questions related to time conflicts between class and jumm’ah prayer, please consult one of the MSA Board members.

 

· The Muslim Students Association will continue its weekly Islamic history halaqah series entitled “The Rise and Fall” TONIGHT after ISHA prayer in the masjid. We will begin discussing the Abbasid dynasty tonight in shaa Allah. For more details, please contact Brother Hany Gabal.

 

· The weekly Qur’an memorization halaqah conducted by Brother Isam Badawi will be held Saturday at the masjid after Maghrib prayer.

 

· The cleaning group for this week will be the Musab bin Umeyr group (led by Brother Arman Bataeyev) on Sunday after Thuhr prayer. Any brother interested in earning ajr (reward) for helping to clean the masjid is requested to sign up on the sign-up sheet on the MSA Bulletin Board.

 

· Please do not forget to donate generously.
