· The annual masjid fundraising drive will be held tomorrow Saturday, September 27 during the community iftar. The community iftar will be provided by the masjid. We encourage all community members to attend and be generous in donating to help us maintain and improve the masjid. Contact Brother Hany Gabal, the NAIT and Fundraising Coordinator, for more information.
· Eid-ul-Fitr prayer will be next Tuesday (September 30) or Wednesday (October 1) starting at 9:00 AM SHARP at BURTSFIELD SCHOOL (same location as last year). Community members are encouraged to bring breakfast items to share with the Eid breakfast. Please check the Masjid website or call the Masjid on Monday evening (September 28) to find out the exact date of Eid-ul-Fitr.
· REMINDER: Zakat-ul-Fitr is due BEFORE the start of the Eid prayer. This year Zakat-ul-Fitr will be $10/person. There is a black box marked “Zakat-ul-Fitr” in the small prayer hall where you can place the money.
· Brother Amro Ibrahim will be leaving the community this Saturday, September 27. We ask Allah, azza wa jal, to ease his transition to his new job.
· Register to become a member of the Islamic Society of Greater Lafayette! Registration forms are available in the small prayer hall and online at www.isglonline.org. The deadline for submitting registration forms to become a voting member of the ISGL is October 1, 2008. Please talk to an EC Board member if you have any questions.
· Ramadan Qur’an Quiz Competition: The purpose of this competition is to help us to enrich our knowledge about the Qur’an. Questions will be announced during taraweeh prayers and are available on the masjid website (www.isglonline.org). Please write down your answer to these questions on a piece of paper along with your name, email, and phone number. Answers can be dropped off in the box labeled “Ramadan Competition.” Contact Brother Isam Badawi with any questions.
· The Muslim Boys Scout Club is sponsoring a food drive during the month of Ramadan. The youth are requesting community members to donate nonperishable (canned or boxed food items like cereal, canned fruit, etc. PLEASE NO FRESH CHEESE) food items. There are boxes around the Masjid where items can be placed. Questions about this drive should be directed to Dr. Akram Almakki.
· The Masjid is providing babysitting for children during taraweeh prayer. The cost for the babysitting service is $2/child/day. No children are permitted in the men’s or women’s prayer hall during taraweeh prayers unless they are praying.
· The weekly Qur’an memorization halaqah conducted by Brother Isam Badawi will be held Saturday at the masjid after Asr prayer.
· The cleaning group for this week will be the Az-Zubair bin Al-Awwam group (led by Brother Ibrahim Aly) on Sunday after Thuhr prayer. Any brother interested in earning ajr (reward) for helping to clean the masjid is requested to sign up on the sign-up sheet on the MSA Bulletin Board.
· Please do not forget to donate generously. |
