1. Fundraising Ideas: Br. Hany presented few ideas to conduct general fundraising for 2008: a. Have a fundraise dinner for the community. b. Contact Alumni _ Have a target number to be raised from ex-community members.
2. Full Time Imam: Br. Hany presented some general criterion and desired requirements for the full time Imam, some are following: a. Have knowledge of Shariah or Fiqh b. At least have memorized 10 Juzz c. Should be proficient in Arabic and English d. Graduate from a known institute e. Should conduct weekly Halaqa for the Muslims and lectures for non-Muslims f. Some Counseling Experience
3. Br. Hany presented MSA plan of bringing speakers starting from Ramadan till November. One speaker a month. Rough cost of bringing one speaker is $600.
4. EC approved getting a Imam from Egypt for Taraweeh. Br. Hany is working on this task.
5. General Maintenance Issues: a. Br. Saieb will talk to David Scout to get a quote on several maintenance projects in the Masjid. b. We also talked about replacing the one piece 4-basin sink for the residents bathroom. c. AED on the sister’s side has been installed as well (Dr. Sankari)
6. Dr. Imad suggest to reinstate presenting gifts to the graduates, up to $50 in value. All members liked this idea.
7. Brother Haroon presented update on few items: a. New cleaning groups has been established. As usual each group whose term is up will be reminded during the Friday announcements, and also the leaders of each group will receive an e-mail reminder from the EC Secretary to let their group know of their turn. b. Cleaning Group for the sister’s side. (Sister Salma Ghafoor is going to organize them) c. Br. Haroon is working on the signs for the Masjid d. Haroon to keep the office key till the end of the year. e. A survey will be conducted to see how many people will be interested in giving business to the D&R slaughter house in town.
