· We would like to offer our condolences to the family of Br. Tariq Abdel Bari. Br. Tariq was a Hafiv of Quran and lead us in Taraweh prayers here in our community 3 years ago. He recently passed away due to cancer. We pray that Allah (SWT) forgives him for any sins we may have committed and grant him a house in Janat-ul-firdaws, the highest level of Jannah.
· The ISGL 2011 Fundraising Dinner/Iftaar will be Saturday August 27th at the YWCA located on 605 North 6th Street in Lafayette and will start at 8:00pm. An R.S.V.P. is required by emailing isglfundraisingiftar2011@gmail.com by Thursday August 25th. Dinner will be catered. All families are invited and children’s entertainment will also be available.
· Eid prayer will be held insha’ Allah either Tuesday or Wednesday at Burtsfield Gymnasium. Our community will announce the exact day and time of Eid on Monday night with postings on the website (isglonline.org) as well as an email to all on the ISGL emailing list.
· The Purdue Muslim Student Association will be holding its Callout, which will be an iftar, on Monday August 29th and will be held in Stewart Center room 310 and all are invited to have iftar and learn more about the MSA and its activities.
· The ISGL is hosting free iftars for single brothers and sisters five days a week (Monday – Friday) during the entire month of Ramadan. We kindly ask you to donate to this cause. Insha’ Allah, Allah will reward you for contributing to the fast-breaking of Muslims in your community. You can donate in the specified donation box located in the small men’s prayer hall.
· Baby Siting for the small children who are not praying during the Taraweeh prayer will be provided. · Ramadan Quiz Competition where participants are emailed questions and everyone question right, you get a certain amount of points. There are cash prizes for those with the highest point. This competition is for brothers and sisters and well as youth. For more information, check the bulletin board on the brothers’ and sisters’ prayer areas or contact brother Ihsan, Haroon Muhammad, Amjad Nasir. · We would like to remind that the masjid is looking for more volunteer groups consisting of 5 or more people for the weekly masjid cleaning days. The Masjid cleaning is done by volunteers every Sunday after Zuhr prayer. It is less than one hour every 2 month. This is a greatly appreciated and rewarding volunteer project and we urge those who are interested to talk to Brother Adil Ghafoor or Ibrahim Aly. · The cleaning group for this week will be be Omar ibn Alkhattab Group lead by Br. Ibrahim Aly this Sunday August 28st. · Please do not forget to donate generously. |
