EC Meeting Minutes 9-30-07
Main Agenda items discussed:
Eid Preparations: · Burtsfield School Gym has been reserved for Friday and Saturday by Br. Ibrahim. · Eid Khutbah Inshallah would be delivered by Dr. Mourad · Breakfast would be organized through the school. Details would be announced in the Friday announcements (Oct 5th)
GA meeting update : · Community’s concern for not using the multipurpose room, nursery room, and downstairs kitchen were discussed. Basically it was agreed that EC would Inshallah use all forms of communication (Friday announcements, EC minutes on the website, and mass e-mail) to convey the rules to use the facilities in the Masjid. · Idea was suggested that to give our the rule in the GA meeting or during Eid gathering and have the community members read the rules and sign off on it. · Issue was brought up to for Parents to control their children in the Masjid, so that Brothers and Sisters can concentrate on their Salah. Dr. Baha will look into this matter and would Inshallah suggest a practical solution to control the children in the Masjid. · Also it was brought to everybody’s attention that parents are not taking care of after their young children. · Dirty diapers are left in the toilet sometimes, and thrown into the garbage cans (without putting them in the extra plastic bags) which stink up the whole bathroom. · Parents needs to make sure that their children are not running around in the Masjid with dirty diapers. · Parents need to advise their children to be Quiet when specially Salah is in progress. · Parents should advise their children to respect the Masjid, Masjid is a house of prayer and it is not be treated as playhouse for children. · Parents should advise their children _ there is to be no running, screaming, or playing of any kind in the Masjid (prayer halls) area. · Each Parent is responsible for His or Her own child and their actions!
· We need to formulate a sister’s committee (any volunteers……..!!) which would look into coming up and implementing a system to further organize and regulate the sisters praying area and multipurpose room.
ISGL Membership: · The deadline for membership has been extended till Oct 20th. · There has been 81 (families, Singles, and voting children) registered members to date.
Maintenance Issues: · Emergency lighting of stair wells would be replaced. · Garbage pickup would be changed back to twice per week during Ramadan · Looking into various window options for 2nd floor windows replacement.
Fund Raising:
· Evaluate the fund raising situation for the ISGL Academy (School) and make a decision on the next step. The next step has to be decided before the Ramadan ends (more specifically by Saturday Oct 6th) so that if we could ask for funds for the maintenance of Masjid.
