· The month of Ramadan will in shaa Allah begin next week. As such there are a few important announcements regarding Ramadan for the community:

 

· Ramadan will start either on Wednesday, September, 12, or Thursday, September 13 based on local and international moon sighting. To find out what day Ramadan will be, please visit the ISGL or MSA website on Tuesday night after Maghrib prayer.

 

· A document of the adhan times for the full year (including Ramadan so you know when to break the fast) is available outside on the MSA table in the small prayer hall. Please pick up a copy for yourself.

 

· Taraweeh prayers will start approximately five minutes after Isha prayer is completed. The first night of taraweeh will be either next Tuesday or Wednesday after Isha prayer.

 

· The MSA will be serving a daily iftar after Maghrib prayer from Monday to Friday at the masjid for all of the single brothers and sisters in the community during Ramadan.

 

· The Muslim Students Association will be initiating our second community service project for the semester next Saturday, September 15, 2007. We will be cleaning and reorganizing the outdoor areas surrounding the masjid. We would like to encourage community members to get involved with this activity. The event will start at 9:30 AM outside the masjid in shaa Allah.

 

· The Muslim Students Association will be having our first weekly Brothers sports activity today. In shaa Allah we will be playing soccer. Please meet at the masjid for Asr prayer and we will head to the intramural fields afterwards. All brothers in the community are welcome to participate.

 

· The first day of the Fall semester of the weekend Islamic School will be this Sunday September 9, 2007. If you still need to register your children for the school please contact Dr. Sankari, Brother Ibrahim Aly, or Sister Sereen for more information.

 

· The masjid library is missing the following four books; please immediately return them back to the masjid if they are in your possession. The four books are:

Volumes 1 and 10 from the English version of Tafsir Ibn Kathir and Volumes 2 and 3 of The Explanation of the 40 Hadith of Imam An-Nawawi by Jamal Zarabozo. Please note that these books are to remain in the masjid at all times.

 

· We will have three Islamic Halaqa’s going on this week in shaa Allah:

· Community halaqah on “The explanation of the 40 Hadith of Imam An-Nawawi” tonight after Isha prayer.

· Brothers Quran Memorization and studies Halaqa will be on Saturday and Sunday after Salat-ul-Maghrib.

· Sisters halaqah after Maghrib prayer tonight

 

· The weekly masjid cleaning group for this week is the Malaysian Group and any volunteers who want to join them on Sunday after Thuhr prayer.

 

· Please do not forget to donate generously as you are leaving. Donations can be placed either in the brown box sitting on the table or in the big brown donation box in the back of the small prayer hall.
